          GENERAL INFORMATION

Limited civil jurisdiction concurrent with District Court. Limit of $25,000.00. Venue over cases in which the occurrence happened or the contract was entered into in Algiers or if the defendant is domiciled in Algiers. No jurisdiction over divorces, family law, successions, nor title to immovable property, nor where the City or State is a defendant. Includes evictions where rent does not exceed $1,500.00 monthly, $500.00 weekly, or $150.00 daily.

SMALL CLAIMS COURT

$3,000.00 limit. Informal trials; litigants may represent themselves.
